The Corn Chowder Sabbath

Corn Chowder is the meal we had this Saturday with the missionaries after church. It is probably the best meal we have had since coming to Nepal. It was so good.

It all happened after church. The missionary couples asked us if we had any plans for dinner, which we didn't so they invited us over. Right after the invite Bishneu (if you guys have seen the Meet the Mormons movie he's the guy who was building houses and schools in the mountains of Nepal. He's practically a celebrity) asked if we had plans for dinner. One of the Elders quickly jumped in and said 'we've already invited them for dinner'. Bishneu was not discouraged he then invited us for next weeks dinner. We accepted and he responded with a 'good, see you there'. Whereupon the Elder quickly jumped in and said 'next week, you will see them next week as they are coming to our place for dinner tonight. So you will see them next week for dinner.'  It was very funny to watch and made us feel very loved as we were being fought over.

The two senior mission couples located here in Nepal live in a shared duplex. I believe that's what it's called. It's where it looks like one house but had two front doors and is split in half. Anyways it's a very lovely place and it almost felt like walking into a different country. They even had a yard with actual grass. ACTUAL GREEN GRASS...AND ROSES!

It was the two senior couples, Keturah and I, Jessi a vetranrian, and two Nepali young single adults. We at dinner together and then sat around talking for hours. It was almost like being home. I loved every minute of it.

In our family Sunday dinner is our favorite meal.  It's not that the food is the best (even though it usually is as mum cooks), what makes it our favorite meal is the hours we spend sitting at the table just talking. You can ask any of my siblings and they will tell you the same thing - we love our Sunday family dinners. Yup, it's one of the things I miss most in Hawaii too.

The missionary couples were wonderful and we felt very honored and blessed to be a part of their sabbath meal.
